The Ghost From Gainesville , written and performed by The Gypsy Heartbreakers, is a hauntingly, beautiful ballad that conceptually explores an enduring connection between two musical souls that even in death cannot be severed. We had two of our personal musical icons, (Tom Petty & Stevie Nicks), in our minds as we penned these lyrics. The song delves into the depth of an imaginary spectral visitation from Tom. The lyrics paint a vivid picture of what the loss of a longtime friend and musical collaborator might be like. The phantom harmonies that still haunt the empty spaces between the notes of a life that tries to somehow move on. The ghostly memories reminding of the power such a shared friendship and musical journey together can forge.
